green frog access

This access statement does not contain personal opinions as to our suitability for those with access needs, but aims to accurately describe the facilities and services that we offer all our guests/visitors.

We are a family, group orientated café, fishery, garden centre and play zone. We have built our business on accessibility for all needs as much as possible. From families with children young, old and with additional needs, to large groups, elderly and wheel chair bound. Our aim is to give everyone a happy and relaxing experience at The Frog.

Entrance & Car park

The car park is large and open with space for people everyone to park. People who require a disabled space are welcome to park at the front door area or to the side. This means a shorter walk and easier to push wheel chairs or walking aids. There is also a sheltered buggy park outside for buggies and bikes. The entrance to Frog is wide and has a slight ramp. Easily accessible by buggy, wheel chair or walking aid. The floors are all level with no steps to any of the areas.

The café has laminated flooring and all tables and chairs can be moved to accommodate any walking devices, chairs or buggies. There is a large print menu for anyone who wishes it and it can be requested if booking a table in advance. We operate a counter service here but the waitresses are very aware of customers’ needs and will approach the table for ordering if required or requested.

Soft Play

The soft play area is again on the same level and is open for children aged 10 and under. We have large benches and seating which can be moved to accommodate again, buggies, wheel chairs and walking aids. These tables are can again be service by the waitresses if counter service is difficult. All food is brought to the tables so no need to carry heavy and awkward trays

toilets moffat

All the toilet and changing facilities are all on one level. We have a disabled toilet with grab rails.

The Baby change area is included in the disabled area with pull down changing table and plenty of space for a buggy to be brought in.

We try our very best to cater for all food needs and groups and today’s society demands this. We have gluten free cakes and scones every day. All or 99% of our soups are gluten free and there is always a vegetarian option. We have gluten free bread for toasties and sandwiches. We can do vegetarian breakfasts and gluten free breakfasts.

With all The Green Frog being on one level it is easier for anyone and everyone to access the outside areas. The Garden centre has no steps and all the beds can be reached by wheel chair access. The Garden centre is only stocked April – October. The ground covering in the centre is concrete paths.

We do have a small selection of animals and theses can be viewed in the comfort of our covered area,
making it any enjoyable experience for everyone.

The Play Park has a covering of bark chips, which would make accessibility difficult in a wheel chair.
There is plenty of seating in the park for anyone who wishes to sit in there.
The play park can be viewed from the low fence, so parents and carers can watch any little ones.

We have a bait pond and fly pond which can be accessed from the main gate or through the café or shop. The fly pond has a pier which provides people in wheel chairs or walking aids a vantage point to fish without going around the pond. The fly pond does have car access and if required you can drive around it with care. The ground can be a bit muddy so probably not suitable for wheel chair users during this time, in summer months you can easily walk around with a wheel chair or walking aid or buggy.

Other useful information

The green frog unfortunately is not on a main bus route, but can be visited by car or on foot if feeling fit. We are situated only 10 minutes’ walk from the main town centre. There are taxis available in the town centre if walking is too far.

The centre is open 9 – 5 daily and if you wish to book a table or anything else this can easily be done by calling by phone or messaging though our face book page.

The Green Frog also has a caravan site but this does not have showers or toilet facilities at the moment, but water, waste and electric pitches. The stances are all hard standing.
